Greenville Marine’s wants to help our customers find the right hunting supplies in Greenville, NC. Greenville Marine knows that with us being on the cusp of Spring, it’s time to start thinking about prepping your boat for boating season. Boating is a very fun activity to do in the Spring, but it can also be dangerous at times. Though it’s Spring, the temperature is still jumping around. If you’re out boating and it’s cold, here are some safety tips when dealing with cold water.
1. Wear Plenty of Layers
Layering is an extremely great tactic in combating the cold. Make sure that you bring a warm hat and have an extra set of dry clothes in case somebody goes overboard. Being in the cold in wet clothes could become dangerous very fast.
When you’re hungry you can actually get cold faster. Being properly fed is a key factor in maintaining your body’s baseline temperature. Make sure that you bring some snacks so that you can fuel up or warm yourself up when you get too cold.
3. Make Sure You Wear a Lifejacket
Being in the cold water can cause a shock to your muscles and prevent you from properly keeping afloat by yourself. Making sure that you wear a lifejacket is the number one thing to do so that you can stay above water even if you become unconscious.
